The best sources for election information are:
Primary Elections are when the political parties select their candidates for the November General Election.
Primary ballots are specific to each party.
The Republican, Constitution, and Libertarian parties have "closed primaries," which means to vote in their primaries you have to be affiliated with their party on your voter file with the elections office.
The Democratic party has an "open primary," which means any registered voter can vote in their primaries.
Any registered voter can opt for a non-partisan ballot instead of a partisan ballot. Non-partisan ballots do not have much on them during a primary.
